Stanford Solar Car Team Begins Intensive Prep for World Solar Challenge

The bisco sponsored, Stanford Solar Car Project, recently began eleven days of intensive practice and training for the upcoming World Solar Challenge, held from October 18-25, 2015. The World Solar Challenge features teams from around the world competing to have their solar car be the first to complete a nearly 1900 mile race across the Australian outback.

The Stanford Solar Car Project team will be competing in the Challenger class which requires teams to complete the race in a single stage with no charging from the grid. In order to prepare, Stanford’s team has conducted over 3000 miles of testing and is now in the final stages of training. During the next few days of intensive training the team “will mimic race procedures by waking up before dawn every day, cooking the most basic of meals, driving immense distances, and camping in the bush” (Guillermo Gomez – Team Lead).

bisco industries wishes the Stanford Solar Car Project team the best in the upcoming 2015 World Solar Challenge. Stay tuned to bisco’s blog for more updates as race day draws near.
